Hi there

Countryfile will be giving an insight into a new Reserve called Brockholes Nature Reserve in this programme. The Reserve is near Preston and adjacent to the M6 motorway.

The reserve has close connections with Lancashire Wildlife Trust. Looking good as it will be another place we can all visit for interest in the near future

  • Hi there

Did anyone see this programme?.  I have posted BBC I-player link so it can be watched at leisure.

I have been told that the area is open to the public as a rule but the area needs to be finished with the additional 'floating' visitor centre, and lots of land maintenance.  Looking good from what was noted on Countryfile.

Dave and I must visit Lancashire in the near future  We do not know anyone who lives at Lancashire at all.

So it will be a B&B thing once more taking note of what has been said here by members.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Hi Blackbird,

I did see the programme, and this is my patch. I can't wait for the reserve to open properly. The public can visit now, and many birds are already making their home there, despite the building works. It opens fully in April, and I believe the Queen herself is to open it.

    Cheers, Linda.

    Hi Linda

That sounds really exciting. Maybe we will catch a glimpse of you on TV when the Queen opens it. :-)

    Hi Kathy,

Thank you for the links. They are very helpful. :-)

    Best wishes Chris

Actually, Pipit lives in Lancashire, near Martin Mere WWT. You could have asked her, but unfortunately she has left the Forum.

  • Looks like a brilliant reserve in the making. Think my friend in Lancashire may be getting a visitor

    Hi everyone

I really look forward to this reserve opening.  Dave and I will make the best of the area and visit Leighton Moss and Brockwood together this year sometime

If anyone intends to visit anywhere in Lancashire, I for one will love to met up with people from Lancashire.  They can show me around their local area anytime - love that experience anyday.  It is getting to know people living in local area which I find very interesting.

    Regards

'Fascinating' as Mr Spock would say.  Blackbird likes to meet local people, Woodpecker is a Royal -watcher,  Sparrow  wears big hats and Lancashire has a Queen.

    :)

  • Certainly looking foreward to visiting this reserve when it opens,it will only be just over a couple of hours away from us so would make an ideal spot for a full day out or even a weekends birding.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
