Well, Springwatch starts again on Monday. I for one am looking forward to it although it has never been the same without Bill Oddie. I have a lovely personal memory of Bill. He was speaking at an event at the NEC in Birmingham and then was signing copies of his new bird book. It was lovely to meet him face to face. He was very shy but charming.
I live just up the road from Martin Mere WWT and I love it when the programme comes from there - so many familiar sights. I hope it returns there before too long.

Judi, I totally agree with you about Halcyon River Diaries. A much more natural and less forced look at wildlife, I do like Simon King but find Chris Packhams presentation style would be better suited to Blue Peter. It's a shame as he is obviously very knowledgeable.
The wildlife footage makes it bearable though

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

They are all like kids in a sweetie shop .
Which is no bad thing you can realy tell that they have a passion for wildlife and that realy comes across .
Yes they talk over each other Yes they get distracted from what is being said at times .
But its all good and what makes the show work.
all in all They are all as mad as Badgers But that works for me.
Like I said before Im more into the wildlife but they do know there stuff and can put it across to folks.
Ke4ep up the good work Guys.
I am I am, we don't have curtains in our mud huts up north.
Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Hi Sparrow
This should take you back then....

I have been reading the last couple of pages of this thread and wonder do you mean the SW team or the people on this forum?
I feel better now I know other people find aspects of the show annoying, I did think it was me being too negative (OK I probably was).
Mind you, I was feeling grumpy because my seven bluetits have fledged, after eating tons of mealworms carefully bred by me and do they have the manners to return and let me take a couple of decent photos?......... NO!! .......the ingratitude astounds me.
Kind regards Jane.
Hi Buzzard old friend. OK, no curtains. In that case I hope your ferrets eat your cloth cap and your clogs fall apart!

Hi Robert,
As the song says "Thanks for the Memory" but that was far too posh for us. Ours was a Bush with a 9 inch screen - no cabinet and no closing doors.
By the way, I love Springwatch for the wildlife and Simon. Could do with a bit less of the studio.
