help!what camera.

Thanks for advice.After spending all day yesterday researching on the net i totally agree about zoom and batteries.Today took a walk to all our shops that sold cameras to have a look around ,a try before you buy sort of day.Hopefully will purchase one on monday when a delivery arrives with the chosen one.

Well done you for trying them all.  I am an impulsive purchaser, so have several cameras now and still want another one.  I have only really been into taking photos of birds for the last 9 months or so and bought the other cameras before this.  Luckily my sister gave me an old sony DSLR camera but it is very heavy and a little complicated for me,

Don't be put off by the battery type. I personally prefer bog standard AA batteries - rechargeable ones  - to lithium ones. Specialist lithium batteries are so expensive to buy, and I for one would never go out for a day's shooting without a spare battery - or two! If you have a spare battery and a spare memory card in a pocket, you will never end up missing that perfect shot at the end of the day...

We chose the panasonic FZ38 after trying the ones on our short list this one was ideal.Looking forward to trying it out.

I can't wait to see the photos - I think that's what Sparrow chose in the end as well.

As i said on your post it was on our short list and it was the one we chose in the end.Glad you are enjoying yours .We only really watch the birds from the window or out on a walk,but hope to go further  now we have a good camera and tripod .
