Another reserve with a good selection of birds ILR. Nice to see the flock of lapwings against the blue sky
Nice variety of sightings and shots ILR, I think the brown bird might be a female Reed Bunting?
Thanks scozmos it’s always difficult to ID birds when branches are in front of them. Glad you liked the photos.
Thanks Snappy I was pleased that the lapwings, some are even in focus, shame about the whooper swans too much exposure. Same with the mute swans I must have forgot to change the settings after photographing the lapwings but at least you can see what they are.
Looks like you had a nice day.
Hi William yes the weather was good and plenty of wildlife to see including big bird who made a loud appearance.
Lovely variety of birds and photos; the lapwings really stand out against that blue sky background. Agree with Scozmos with female Reed Bunting and think your Redshank might be a Bk-tailed Godwit. Looks a lovely area for the various waders and other birds.

Thank you Hazel you and Scozmos agree on female reed bunting, nice to get two opinions agreeing the same bird. With regards the black tailed godwit I may have got mixed up somewhere along the line there with my ID as I did take some photos of redshanks with orange/red legs and thought the godwit was the same bird and as you can see I didn’t post them thinking the godwit was a redshank. As you know Hazel my ID’s are not what they should be. Thanks again Hazel
Was referring to the first photo directly under the Grey Heron and Teal; the further two photos are Redshank. Looks like you had a good day out there, thanks for sharing your sightings and photos.
here's the one I think is a Godwit .......
As always, a good selection of photos.
The big grey bird is the Airbus Atlas C.1 A400M, a replacement for the aging Lockheed C130 Hercules. That particular one ZM420 has spent most of the recent weeks fly from RAF Brize Norton, around the UK and EU.
I'm not sure if Brize still undertakes ILS and other airport radar system checks to ensure the radar is operating within the tight specs required for flight safety. Those tests were carried out using the Hercules C130.
I need to get out more!
