Some fine looking beasts there ILR, and rutting season for many is well under way. Of course not forgetting the others, and what looked like a nice sun blessed but nippy day.

It was a lovely day Mike and it is such a lovely place to visit.
It looks a fabulous place to visit, but then, it is Yorkshire, need I say more....
Not really Mike I have lived in Yorkshire all my life
Some great looking antlers their ILR. We have been to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal a few times, seemed to have missed that view of Ripon though...
Hi Snappy the photos were not great what with dark shadows when the deer were under the trees and bright sunshine same problem with shadows, but regardless of that I had a lovely day just taking in the beauty of the place. The view, It was the first time I had seen it, I was looking for the deer when I noticed the cathedral at least I think that’s what it is, directions of how to find it ? I can only tell you how I found it, from the car park studley royal end. Walk up the hill over the road up the hill again and bare right and keep walking as if you are heading towards the studley royal entrance and as you are gradually sloping down the banking it can be seen. It is still nowhere near the entrance to Studley royal, I probably walked a mile up and down the hill and another mile on the way back to the car park I had a good Three hours there in between stopping to take photos, I saw around four different groups of deer.it was great to see the boss the large stag he was bellowing to warn off the other stags 6th photo down. Some other stags were approaching his harem and the boss soon moved them on. He was a very impressive animal and one not to argue with.
Nice timing to catch him mid bellow ILR. I am sure we will be back, I will have to remember to check out the view.
It is always worth a visit and fountains Abbey has beautiful grounds not forgetting the Abbey itself we are so lucky to have it in North Yorkshire, we are in West Yorkshire so around an hours drive for us.
