As some will know I invested in a new macro lens last week and it arrived yesterday, so I have been scouting around the garden, like you do, for likely suspects. The lens is a Canon RF100mm IS USM f/2.8 macro, Being used with my Canon R7. So far I am very impressed with it's capabilities. I just need to improve the guy hanging on the back of the cameras capabilities a bit ... . All shots were taken hand held with no flash or anything.

An Aphid on a flower stem
Didn't know I had so many Aphids!
Zebra Jumping Spider on top of my shed door
I believe this is a Quedius Curtipennis better known as some kind of Beetle ...
And another ... Well it's the same one really ...
Inside a Petunia in my garden
Very good the Bungalow idea was very smart.

Not at all. The more the merrier. You can't beat a good laugh ...
Cracking set of shots, obviously a steadier hand than mine
Thanks Scozmos. Image stabilisation helps, and I did pick out the best ...
I've been sitting editing most of the day, doing exactly that....
Really nice shots and great use of aperture to get the depth of field - the advantage of the f2.8 lens. I shoot in RAW and do all my editing in Lightroom - usually just the same tweaks and crop etc but you get very quick at it. The great thing I find is that its easier to decide whether to keep an image or not - you can tel straight away that one is a binner - but there are those images that can be saved in LR that are just lost forever in jpeg - especially white birds. I kept far too many images when I shot in jpeg
Cracking macro images BD and wonderful detail; glad the new lens is bringing such great results and thanks for sharing them.

I agree Bob, that some images can be saved. I have photographed a couple of family weddings - my sister's and a relation, (no fee of course ... ). Fortunately both days were quite bright, and on both occasions I have recovered detail in the bride's dress that would have been lost in a jpg. I have also recovered lost detail in sky and light coloured birds like herons and such. As I said, I don't do it too often, but I like to have the option - like a 'get out of jail free card' ... . I do all my editing in Photoshop, because I can't use any other. I think that flitting between editing programs make you not very good at any, instead of concentrationg on one and becoming reasonable.
Thank you Hazy. I am pleased with it, and hope to get some practice soon. I have had a few bits on this week, and when I didn't it was raining ... .
