Good afternoon all. We moved back from S. Wales to rural Scotland and I hoped to see Tree Sparrows and Yellowhammers up here. I did. I do.
Quite often, which makes me very happy but, I realise that Tree Sparrows aren't common everywhere, from the comments I've had on some pictures so I thought I'd start a thread on them, maybe we can gather up where people see them and where we don't?
If you don't ever see them and I don't think I ever saw one in my past lives, at least we can share some images here.
The Sparrows Album
I've added a link above to my shots from our move here until last year.
The shots below from January this year.
Tree Sparrow and friends
Tree Sparrow - fed up in the rain
Tree and House Sparrows on suet
So these are all in Perthshire, Scotland near Alyth.
Nice idea so that peeps like me here in East Kent who don't get them can see what they look like!
Edit: enjoyed your Flickr pics & vid, thank you!
Or you could help them disperse and send some to me in Motherwell
They are adorable, only ever saw them when I visited Caerlaverock
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
no problem Linda257 I'll start chasing them now? There must be some around your area somewhere?
Cheers ....well none here that I have ever seen and I am on garden watch 24/7 or at Barons Haugh. I don't even get many visits from hedge sparrows but see plenty over other side of the railway
Strathclyde Country Park?
I had this app but must've deleted it https://www.the-soc.org.uk/pages/where-to-birdwatch
Just down the hill from me but never saw any and I used to walk the park daily
Trade? I rarely see Robins!
Absolutely
Great photos.
Beautiful little bird. Never seen one, here in Sussex. A shame really. Great photos as well.
