Every now and again, I take a drive up the Balintore road near Loch of Lintrathen, there's a lay-by next to some grassy mounds and there are always Wheatear nesting there so I hoped to get some youngsters shots but they've either all grown up or were hiding so, I carried on to the bridge over Quharity Burn to see what I might see. I saw this.
Perched right over the burn, with an eye on something below. It's a tiny wee burn, in a very quiet location, quite surprised to see it there.
Was sitting waiting for you ..nice
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
I wondered if it was a young bird it's an unusual place to fish. Flew a bit further up and stood on a telegraph pole.
Sorry can't help you there as I tend to avoid Osprey threads , oh and I have never actually seen an Osprey myself ️
Could be a 2/3 year old returnee for first time or an adult ... eye colour not right for newly fledged juvenile as they have orange eyes ... enlarged your pic to show eye colour

Thank you WendyBartter it was purely the fact of the location that made me wonder, I can't imagine large fish in that wee burn, thank you very much for the info!
Great pic, have never seen one.
What a lovely find for you, I would have been extatic if I had come across that one , one of my favourites
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thank you Catlady & William Parsons we see them up here quite often, I go up to a nearby reservoir to watch them, wonderful birds to watch but yet to get some catch shots
