There is a nest with fledglings in a friend's garden. The chicks were too close for my lens to focus on, but the adults were awesome to watch. Does anyone know what they were feeding the chicks? I've gone for beetle larvae and lacewing in a different photo, but I'm not sure.
Great captures Rishaan, maybe ant eggs? But only a guess ... remember discovering an ant's nest in a flower pot and spreading all the ant eggs on soil, Robin was delighted!

The 'eggs' will be cocoons or larvae. Ant eggs are very much smaller.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually supplementary food people are putting out. If the robins are still bringing similar looking stuff back, that'll be it.

Sorry, my memory was incorrect ... it was vine weevil larvae which had infested my flower pot!

I used to feed Waxworms to my Robin but they were much bigger than shown in Rishaan's pics!
Yes, definitely not waxwings, or any other live supplementary food. If I've got time, I'll try and find a photo of something I am suspecting....
