Prior to the pallid harrier I stopped at Cley Marshes to try and find the red-breasted goose, which had arrived here in a flock of brent geese from arctic Siberia. Easier said than done- they blend in so well despite their spectacular colouration that for a long time I could not see it in the large goose flock in front of me. I did spot it for one second, after which it was lost again.
After the flock was flushed by a jet flying at full afterburner over the reserve, I noted where the geese went, and followed the beach road back down to the main road, and that is where the red-breasted goose really stood out, located much closer to the fence than before. Managed to get a lot of good photos of the beautiful bird
