A short afternoon alongside the river and we saw a rare visitor a Night Heron

I hadn’t until it was on our local news, apparently there are only 10 or 12 that visit our country each year and they are usually down south. But for such a rare visitor I was well pleased to get a few photos of it. As for the Sand martin, blimey they are really hard to photograph, so quick and erratic in flight, I nearly tied myself in knots trying to get a photo Lol.

I know what you mean re: sandmartins..got them at my local and its like trying to photograph midges...or that's just how my pics turn out..then end up with crooked neck and feeling dizzy trying to constantly track them in flight ..all part of the fun am sure lol

It’s probably just practice Linda, I remember when I first started to photograph birds in flight it was difficult but you get better after time, so more practice required at least I got one photo of the Sand Martin, might get two next time Lol

Och a have managed a couple of pics but as you say they are just so fast..Will need to catch them at their nesting site for a decent pic a think lol
