A thread for bee and wasp and hornet mimics but only for 2023
abit of a pain I know but the person who first discovered this species only named it a scientific name and didn’t give it a common name
Epidtrophe eligans
These 3 different types of hoverflys were observed in the garden on a shrub with flowers near my small pond I watched the shrub to see what mimics visit the flowers to pollinate them in the garden

Eupeodes
species a migratory species most likely migrant hoverfly or common spotted field Syrph
After I took the picture of the hoverfly I only just noticed that you can see my reflection sitting down on the golden part cause it’s so shiny but I took some close ups of the hoverfly with my magnifying glass
