Just by the way I think your 'chaffinch' is actually a bullfinch

As Benji says its a Bullfinch. How on earth did you manage to get the Kingie to sit still for so long ILR...more cracking pics...thanks for sharing ;-)

Lovely to get good views of the Kingfisher and the Bullfinch which looks like one of this years young gaining its adult male plumage, they all look like the female when they are fledged. Very nice photos ILR, a nice way to start the day :)

Thanks Linda I had never seen a Juvenile Bullfinch before so just went with a guess
At least now if I see another I shall know what it is. I couldn’t believe the kingfisher stayed for as long as it did and it was so close 

Normally they are hidden behind branches and a long way away, It was a special day in more ways than one.

Thanks Mike I hadn’t seen a juvenile bullfinch before either and guessed it was a chaffinch and it was Benji that first pointed it out. The kingfisher was sat there on that branch for around twenty minutes, I had never seen one so close and one that stayed longer than a minute. Let’s hope they sought your leg out soon Mike.
