14 Spotted Ladybeetle

Common Plant Bug Anthocoris Nemorum

The Common Nettle Bug

Munjack deer visited almost daily

a type of wasp

at the meadow I saw it on this flower Tuesday Thursday and Friday

on my last day I looked under the slabs and I found a Snake

Grass Snake

There was a dark bush cricket on the bathroom door

So I put it outside

  • More cracking photos Zo.

Your unidentified wasp, I've a feeling I've seen a photo of one similar to that somewhere before. Don't hold your breath, but if I do come across it, I'll let you know.

  • I think It might be in the family ichneumon but this family can be hard to nail down to species. There called ichneumon wasps or Darwin wasps.

I really wouldn't have a clue, and I've no idea when or where I think i saw the wasp. I've a vague suspicion it may have been on Flickr, there are a number of groups and a couple I follow there are some that post some cracking insect photos, but they will be too numerous to look back through.

Still was a good photo, irrespective.

  • Usually if the wasp has long antennaes and a long ovipositor it is likely to be one of those. This is before i went to find it again the next day and I found it on the cabin on a Spiders web. The wasps in this family can be difficult  to identify to species and there’s more than 100 of them in the UK so it’s best left at family for now. But if and when I do manage to identify the species I will put the name.

  • Thorpe Forest is near Thetford. And Thetford Forest the UKs largest man made pine forest in Britain is near there. Its a Breckland habitat but the forest is home to specialised and scarce species and is a SSI site. I managed to take photos of insects I saw there aswell. I didn’t see much birds but I heard them which is why I mainly recorded them but I managed to get at least 2 photos of 2 that came out in the open temporarily. One looked like a Wren, the othet looked like a Blackbird. The other bird that speared was a treecreeper he was hard to get a photo of he was mainly against the tree trunk and disappeared as soon as I put my camara up but I managed to get a audio recording of him. But I did manage to get some photos from Thetford forest. Interestingly they get goshawks and nightjars but I didn’t see any there though

I did wonder where Thorpe forest is.

I sort of know Thetford, but only for a fleeting drive through many years ago delivering cars to Norwich.

My wife and I nearly booked a long weekend not far from Cromer as a last minute cancellation came in, just before my leg decided to go manky. Thankfully we didn't, or we'd have lost our money.

Apart from Titchwell Marsh June 2021 and kings Lynn, the last time I was around that way was the late 60's as a child.

  • I managed to find the location of where we were on the map cause even though I knew it was near Thetford I wondered where Thorpe Forest was aswell when I went

The top circle is the meadow and the circle at the bottom is The Forest

And this is more of a zoomed out map view of where Thorpe Forest is. Thetford Forest is the other dark green parts beside the circle

the circle is exactly where Thorpe Forest is

  • I managed to get my Grass Snake Observation at Thorpe Forest Verified by the

    Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust
