Ruddy Darter:
Common Darters:
I was trying to identify this Damselfly, when I came across the word 'Teneral', (also described on here in a post from 2013), meaning:
After damselflies emerge from the water, they take a couple of days to attain sexual maturity and with it their mature coloration. A damselfly in this immature state is known as 'teneral'. It has strikingly shiny wings, and often very subdued and pale colours and patterns. Identifying tenerals is more difficult, but tenerals usually show a fainter version of the adult pattern.
So I think that is what this may be. Probably a teneral Common Blue, as Common Blues are common around here :-)
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Sun was out today and so was I...Post to follow later
but got this lovely one by a loch
A photo taken in May, I think this is a Female Scarce Chaser:
Great shot Snappy. Very sharp ...
Took these yesterday. A first for me. I believe it to be a male Common Darter
Hi All. Some sort of Darter I think. Not sure which of the reds it is. Arrived in the garden yesterday to examine the new wildlife pond that is only half completed.
Lets hope for more next year. :-)
