My trip Bird watching yesterday

bird watching while dog walking yesterday

next I saw a Thrush which could of been a Song Thrush since I had to concentrate on the dog when I was walking I couldn’t get a good look but here’s some photos of the Thrush

I also saw some Bluebells

  • Glad you enjoyed your walk Zo it's a bit hazy on my tablet but I think your Thrush is a Song Thrush and I think your Bellflowers are the beautiful Bluebells

    Pete

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

  • Thanks. With the bluebells I get the names Bell flower and blue bell mixed up cause they both have bell in them. I did mean the blue bell plant but acidently put a differant name than I thought I put, But I think it can be easy to get the get the two names mixed up with each other. I did mean Bluebells though. Thanks for the correction or I wouldn’t of noticed I put the wrong name for the Blue Bells. Iv corrected the name on the post. The photo isn’t very clear but I think Song thrush is more likely than Mistle Thrush aswell Exspeacially at this time of year.

  • Are you sure that dunnock isn't a house sparrow? It looks like it might be a house sparrow from my perspective

  • Here is a clearer photo of one if it helps

  • Yes Im sure. It turned in my direction so I was able to see it properly but it looked away at the last minute. It’s a bad photo of a dunnock which is why it looks like a Sparrow but it’s was  a dunnock

  • If you look in the second photo it has the grey cap and black throat of a sparrow, and dunnocks have an almost completely grey head, I will leave it at that and let you choose for yourself, you saw it in the first place so you are probably right

  • That isn’t its head. The resolution of the image isn’t very good and it’s very blurry.  The top of its head was brown and the whole face and tummy was completely gray. I know it was a dunnock cause I saw it better than the camara did. If I see it again next time il try to get a better photo but the dog was tugging when I tryed to take the photo that’s why it’s not very good.

  • Just one thing before I leave you to think about it on your own, dunnocks have almost completely grey heads, whereas like in your first photo the back of the head is not only brown it has a distinctive grey cap!
Sorry if I've said anything I shouldn't, just voicing my opinion
    Will leave it now

  • The thing is cause it’s blury the head the photo isn’t very reliable if it wasn’t blurry I would of sent it for Identification. it didn’t have a gray cap when I saw it. I may or may not of had some gray but the dog was tugging so I couldn’t stick around, i know they have almost completely gray heads. I know what dunnock and sparrows look like. But what I was saying is it looks like it’s looks like it’s got a gray cap cause the image isn’t very good. For that reason I’m going to take a better photo next time.

  • You could try to get a proper ID for it anyway. It's not really that bad a photo
