What a difference a month makes! Did one of our regular walks past a reservoir and over the moors today (on the edge of Sheffield). In winter we may only see a couple of species of birds, crows and probably the odd red grouse. Today we counted 19 species (curlew, lapwing, golden plover, ring ouzel, Canada geese, greylag geese, common sandpiper, meadow pipit, skylark, carrion crow, wheatear, mallard, coot, wren, red grouse, chaffinch, mistle thrush are the ones I remember).
