I got a new camera a few weeks ago (Canon EOS 250D) and today got a new 55-250mm lens. Well when I say new lens, I mean a 2nd hand one from EBay. Now I just need to do a lot of experimenting to see what the best settings are for good pictures. First few tries are attached.
Went for a quick walk in Linlithgow today, and took some pictures at the Loch. Mostly mute swans, but other birds as well, some of which I need a hand with
First the swans, then I'll do another post with the others
And the others
A coot
Some Mallards
Moorhens
A tufted duck?
Not sure what this is
Not sure what type of gull this is. The first 2 pics are the same bird, but the tail feathers look different in both pics
More brilliant photos, with a good variety of birds and locations.
There will be quiet days, bird wise, so look for the insects, which will be active even in these wintery months. And sometimes, the birds will be at rest, but the insects will be busy.

I've not been on here for a few days, so time to upload some more pics from the garden
Is this a wren?
Is this a coal tit?
Great tit, not in my garden but out on a walk.
Just a couple of queries this time, is that a wren and a coal tit?
