Holiday insurance :) Your camera should be covered by your house insurance while away anyhow :)

I use the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-18. Pretty good Leica 18x zoom lens which is like having a 500mm telephoto without needing a crane. It still works best on a tripod though. It has a proper viewfinder too if you don't want to use the viewscreen. Here's a typical pic cropped a bit. You won't get "publication quality" without a SLR and a 400mm telephoto but the Lumix is good enough for me anyway.
Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?
Hello Julie,
I use the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-38, more expensive than your £150, but an excellent choice. It is just a newer version of the other Lumix FZ cameras. Light, fits in a large handbag, good zoom, good quality camera for a beginner. I think you will find there are several of us on this forum with the Lumix FZ range. Also does excellent videos.
Cheers, Linda.

Thank you all so much will defo look into it !!!!
Hi Julie,
I wasn't sure wether or not you wanted to do any Macro photograhy.
Butterflies, insects, flowers etc etc.
That was the reason behind asking what you wanted to photograph.
The other question relating to price was due to the fact you can pay £10k - 15k just for a lens and £1500 - £2500 for a body and more.
Also remember that quite a few photos which have been posted on the forums have been taken with equipment that runs into the thousands of pounds bracket.
But also remember you can have all the gear and no idea?
Nikon and Cannon equipment requires a second mortage!
If you want a point and shoot then the Lumix range offer some good cameras.
The link below is for the top 10 range.

Thanks Buzzard
