The recent cold weather brought a rosy starling into my garden at Sidmouth, Devon. It perched on a wisteria some 8 feet from my window and remained for about 20 seconds before flying off. Unfortunately I did not have time to take a photograph but have no doubt as to the identity of this rare visitor.
Wow!! What a visitor to have! Superb! Shame it didn't hang around for a pic but good to see at least! Welcome to the forum too! :-)

Wow, lucky you. I've never seen one anywhere, even in eastern Europe.
Had a look on the Birdguides website and there have been a several photos of rose-coloured starlings taken this Autumn/Winter in Oxfordshire, Cumbria and Scilly.
Congratulations.

I have neve seen one of them, you could mistake it as a magpie, if it wasn't for the size and tail the beak, ok nothing like a magpie. lol
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Hi Derek, and welcome to the forums. What a great bird to have visit. I'd love to see a rosy starling but I don't think there's ever a chance of one making it as far north as west central Scotland.Paul
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Hi Derek, and welcome to the forum from me.
Gosh! I've just had a look at some images of these birds on the internet, never having seen one. I think I would faint if one landed in my garden.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Derek, and welcome to the forum. What a wonderful visitor to your garden. I am ever so slightly green with envy!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hello Derek. What a rare and unusual visitor to your garden.

Welcome Derek,
I'm quite green with envy too.
It looks like an amazing bird. That type of starling can visit my garden anythime he likes. As long as I'm there to see him
Hi Derek, and welcome to the forum.
A surprise indeed.
Lets hope it survives for as long as it's here! and makes it way home.
