Still waiting for our Swifts to return to Sunderland (22 years running), has anyone got theirs back yet further south :)
We've been seeing them in Greater Manchester for several weeks already. ( 100 miles further south )

Excellent, ours normally get here late May, so we are watching out for them Sounds like they are working their way up the country.

We have had them here in N.Yorks for several weeks and Saltholme on Teeside got theirs at a similar time

I hope ours are OK, we usually see more than our pair, so im hopeful they are still on the way. I will keep you all informed.
Geordie birds are Magpies Alan, we are the Black Cats, we eat them for breakfast lol.
Had them screeching overhead in the garden late this afternoon wonderful sound compared to the young starlings packing out my little back garden :-)
A very old Shropshire Lad.
They have been here in Norwich for two weeks now, screeching overhead as I type this.
Saw some passing over earlier in May and 1 lone Swallow on the 3rd May when we were
having the cold wet weather.
Panic over everyone, the Swifts have returned today, half a dozen of them screeching and rocketing around, my pair will be among them, just need to see them go in my eaves now. :)
They are well and truly back across most of the UK now, if you have seen them return and have witnessed them going into nest sites within roof space or have seen low level screaming parties at roof level please report them via the swift survey here
