The migration is well under way, so here is a list of birds to follow, with the latest position as I know it, from websites.....the list may be incomplete, so if you can please help, add any tagged ospreys that we can follow. So far in 2007, 2008 and 2009, we have not had any simultaneous fixes, I.E. two birds in the same place at the same time. Although visual sightings have been made of pairs or groups of ospreys.
RSPB, Mallachie, Sept 3rd, Hewell HM Prison, near Tardebigge, assuming she stayed there until this morning.
RSPB, Rothes, Dr Jones' sturgeon farm, Saint-Fort-sur-Gironde, Sept 2nd. (both as per this diary entry).
HFW, (Roy Dennis), Beatrice, Malagon, Spain, on the move, 11AM, 2nd Sep.
HFW, Talisman, fishing at Findhorn Bay, 1st Sep.
HFW, Nimrod, fishing at Culbin Bars, 1st Sep.
HFW, Morven, flying from Caithness in direction of Findhorn Bay, 1st Sep.
If past experience is followed, then Beatrice should over-winter at Guadiaro river which is 340 kilometres further on. Nimrod from memory was in Senegal and Guinea-Bissau last year and had a favourite river with mudflats and Morven was on the Atlantic coast, in Mauritania and appeared to be spending every night in the desert. There were no trees where she was, so she was either on the ground or up on some rocks. Have I missed anyone? There may be some Scandinavian tagged birds this year.

Also they have retained their award that they received last year, especially heartening in this their Golden year. Well done LG team!!!!!!!! Over 40,000 visitors came and went apparently!!

Xalbai, all your photographs are very beautiful. My favourite is the one showing Mallachiie's underside, it looks as if she is a tame hawk and she is just about to land on your arm and can only be a metre above your head. But, this is not true of course, she is much higher and your lens has picked up the detail of her plumage in detail. I hope you get a chance to take more pictures of other ospreys, now that you can tell where they are, or likely to be with the aid of the satellite tagging.
Thank you for sharing your photographs of Mallachie. They are really beautiful and it is so wonderful to be able to see her.
I wonder if you have taken a look at Roy Dennis website. He actually has a page in it that asks for specific information regarding colour ringed birds. In case you missed it here is a link to that page. Roy coordinates all osprey ringing in the UK so should be able to give you all the details on the osprey your friend saw last September.

WOW Xalbai - what lovely photos and such a treat for us to see how she is getting on. Thank you so much for sharing them with us all.
Thanks once again for those wonderful photographs of Mallachie. We never expected to see such amazing photos of her until she returned to Scotland. Merci Beaucoup!!!

Rothes - some detective work needed here - possible sighting?
www.faune-aquitaine.org/index.php
Yesterday we have a sighting as above, near Hourtin, in a natural reserve, called Barouins. This is just outside the scope of Rothes' tracking recorded on Google, but only 20 Km, as I am not sure exactly where Baroiuns is located, I know the area but not that place. A map of where I think it may be, you can drag the map and see if you can find it. We do not have all Rothes points plotted because of the congestion and also I do not think that yesterday's data is in yet.
Richard can you spot any fixes near to Lac d'Hourtin-Carcans or Lac de Lacanau? There is a reserve between the two lakes. That may be the place.
A description of Barouins follows:-
La boucle locale emprunte des petites voies et chemins à travers la forêt de pins et serpente en bordure de crastes (fossés) bordées de bosquets de chênes. La boucle peut-être prolongée jusqu'à l'espace naturel des Barouins.
Basically, says, paths, pine forest, (used to build Napoleon's fleet!), snakes, ditches, chestnut borders.
Boucle means - a loop or a meander.

Re map, click on 'rechercher' when it downloads. It looks blank otherwise.
Also I posted.......
More sightings yesterday, Pointe de l'Eyre, 3 sighted and Banc d'Arquin, 1 sighted. Both these places are Departement 33, La Gironde.
