I heard my first chiffchaff a few days ago but couldn't see it. Today I went out to my local reserve to try to track it down. There were several singing and eventually I managed to find one who posed for me albeit high up in the tree.
Must make myself look good for the ladies.
That should do it. C'mon girls where are you.
Who is that guy pointing that big lens at me - I'm outa here.
You really know that Spring has arrived when you hear that familiar call.

Hi TJ
What fabulous photos of a chiffchaff. I don't think I have ever seen one posing out in the open like that. :-)
Well spotted!
Where was this?
Best wishes Chris

Hi Chris
It was on the track that runs parallel to Lavell's Lake between the Bittern hide and the Teal hide right up to the River Loddon. The warblers seem to like the dense scrub and trees in this area. I remember last year there were many whitethroats singing but haven't heard any yet. A bit too early probably but by April they'll be around.
Great shots and so nice to see that wonderful blue sky at long last....
