After going on friday in terrible weather to see these beautiful birds, I couldn't resist a trip in glorious sunshine yesterday to try and get some better shots.
My apologies to those who are waiting to see these magnificent birds but I thought you may enjoy dozens of pics that I got.
I promise to post more of them every other day -:}
I can't imagine the quality of the shots that the guys who have 2k - 10k worth of equipment, I'm thrilled with the pics that my little camera and lens got.
I was still having to manually adjust the lens which was really testing my patience.
The flock had increased to between 70-80 birds and at times it was difficult to get on a single bird as my eyes were drawn to all of them. This has to be one of my best birding experiences, I know that these birds can gather in huge flocks but I have never seen more than half a dozen at a time. There has been numerous years were I haven't got to see them at all.
There has been a real buzz around the area and it has been amazing at the amount of birders who have travelled to see this flock, I have also enjoyed showing numerous folks the birds that have never seen them before.
A Sparrowhawk dispersed the birds and the flock disappeared, so you never know guys they could be heading your way.

Had been to Kent for Oct hols so the boys wanted to stay home, play with friends!! I know they were around the Acklington area middle of last week!! Hasd a look on the N Noethumberland Bird Club site but no mention there or on the Northumberland + Tyneside one- might be missing something :-S

Hi Buzzard,
What a glorious series of photos. Even though I have yet to see any and am therefore a little green with envy - your photos have inspired me to look a little harder for them.... perhaps they may grace the Lodge again sometime soon!
Claire
Thanks every one for your kind words.
I will post even more pics once I've gone through them.
My Camera has gone off to the repair shop, to many Waxwing shots possibly overload failure!!

Oooh Buzzard, they are superb photographs. I have just sat here looking at them over and over again. I would love to have been there and seen them in such numbers. I think I may have to become a 'twitcher' and travel some distance to make sure I see some this year.
Thanks Brenda,
Here's some more from the hundreds of shots that I took.
Dozens of shots to go through, will keep adding them.
New pics added.
What an amazing set of photos ... inanely jealous!
