Hi-
I was driving back from the PO late in the day and found 4 Waxwings in a hedge in the back lane :)
The year list reaches 220 in Britain :)

Not seen them myself, but apparently around 50 Waxwings were seen in Thanet, Kent this morning. I wonder whether the harsh weather is driving them further south, or across from the continent.
Just seen a flock of 30-40 on my way to watch Bradford City today (in Bradford). Hoards of football fans walking past oblivious but they are definately still around in Yorkshire.

Hi mags
Thanks for that ,Loads of yorkies not seen them yet.
Hi, never posted before, but had to share excitement of seeing my first waxwing yesterday morning, outside our house in Ingleby Barwick, Stockton. Was alerted by it's call, unfortunately it was alone.... During the snowy weather I also spotted a pair of beautiful Bullfinches just by the newt pond behind Tescos. Its amazing what you see amongst the sprawl of houses when you're forced to abandon the car & walk!! I'm a newcomer to the north east, having migrated from beautiful Ches/Derbys border. Never thought I'd see something so stunning here on this estate...we're plagued by neighbours cats!
Here's to more sightings!

hi bo and welcome to the forum.
A BIT DIFFERENT from landscape you are used to but your not too far for nice scenery and wildlife.
Waxwings are cropping up all over the place and a lot in industrial cities and towns and supermarket car parks so it's possible there were more nearby. Bullies are a nice colourful bird to spot.
AS FOR CATS, don't set this lot off again
