Plenty of Turns no turning up around the Exe Estuary with plenty of Whimbrel, Godwits, Redshanks, Sandpipers and Curlews turning up every day.Looks like all the local Swifts have now left us for another year... very sad to see them go. Had a week in the New Forest last week and noticed large numbers of Spotted Flycatchers, Warblers and Redstarts throughout the Forest and the heath, all feeding up for the long push south later on when conditions are right.
Not a bad part of the world.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
This is the second year that I`ve had no whinchats at all.Am very concerned. There`s been more willow warblers though.
Thank you,Clare.
Our UK tour will take in your neck of the woods so i will give you a shout next year....
Blimey. Limpy is watching the Proms as well. This is most odd.
Will either of you make it to the beautiful Suffolk coast next year? It comes highly recommended.
Will be at Minsmere in the early spring... Snow and all
Snow? Most unlikely......you want Loch Garten for that.
Seriously, though, please announce it on here when you're going and we'll keep our eyes open for you. Both Limpy and I volunteer on reception.
Lapwing moving through. They stay in town for a couple of days then move on to - Where I know not. Taken on the 14th October - Same as in 2014!

Out in the area this week and a load going on with my first Bramblings of this winter in amongst a large mixed Finch flock on Sunflowers.
In Lyme Bay a large raft of Common Scoters I saw with well over 130 birds... quite impressive.
Plenty of Fieldfare and Redwing seen and a Great Grey Shrike on the local common has been seen...not by me tho'
Any Waxwings seen by anyone? Photos would be good?.
Waxwings not in Kent yet Derek, still north of the Thames according to Twitter sightings!
Catch up with them in March when we return WB!!
Had them in Exmouth a few winters ago.... here's hoping!
