Another bird I don't know?!

Hi!

I spotted a bird on my garage roof and wondered what it is, I took a pic and will upload it whan I can. It was smallish, but bigger than a robin, it was all black, with a small white patch on its neck area. I would like to know what it is, I looked on the british garden bird site but couldn't find the bird.

Hope anyone can help, Luisa xx

  • well without the pic its anyone guess but if all black with white patches it could be above or now about a RING OUSUL.(  Turdus torquatus )

dont just look enjoy and leave for others to share after you. we dont own the earth we just rent a small part of it....

    Hi,

unless your garden is on an island, backs onto  a beach golf course or is at a migrant hot spot,  Ring Ouzel is really unlikely :))

Strangely enough I got a tip-off a few years back about a Ring Ouzel hanging around a Cambridge special needs school and the Principal invited me over for a "diagnosis". Off I went fully expecting to find a Blackbird with some white feathers - but it was the real deal, a perfect male RO pecking around the lawns with all the other Turidae....

Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?

  • Can't remember exactly but it was pretty cold. There was even a bit of receding snow at the time.
