Is it a Teal, female
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Ok, I'm going for female garganey now.... ;-)
Could be either a female teal or gadwell. Since teal already has a vote, I'll go for female gadwell.
I agree with MarJs - female garganey

Very, very tricky. Can't see the bill and not much of the head so not much help there.
I agree it's most likely to be a teal or garganey but which one. Doubtful about a gadwall.
No sign of green on wing which favours garganey. On the other hand there appears to be a white patch under the tail which a teal has but a garganey doesn't. This could be an illusion because of the way the bird is twisting.
I wonder what time of year this was taken? Vegetation appears to be dying back which might indicate it was late in the year. Would the garganey have already migrated?
Just to balance the voting up I'm going for a female teal or even conceivably a male in eclipse plumage.

Close but not close enough.
It could be a female or juvenile shoveler. That also exhibits a small white area beneath the tail.
Young female Eider and that's a wild guess
