Am I a Skylark or not?
My guess would be Meadow pipit....

This bird seems to have quite a pronounced supercilium as does the skylark whereas I didn't think the meadow pipit did. Also the bill looks a bit heavy although that might be the worm.
I've been wrong before and will probably be wrong again.

Hi,
this is a skylark :) Note the 'open faced' expression and pale lores -( the area between the eye and the bill) - Meadow Pipit has dark lores and a strong moustachial and malar streak from the base of its bill.
also note the small sparce streaks on the breast which are not obvious down onto the flanks - Meadow Pipit normally has well marked spots or streaks down its flanks
The bill and legs are both substantial- Meadow Pipit has a slim bill and skinny legs :)
If you look carefully you can see Primary projection beyond the secondaries- Meadow Pipit doesnt show any projection
Hope that sorts it :))

ps- sorry to be technical- Someone posted a Bird Topography diagram a while back- it's worth a look :)

Thanks for the detailed explanation Seymouraves! It was the lack of an obvious 'crest' that made me doubt!
Thanks for all your help folks. So Skylark it is!
