Is it a Pipit.
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
yes they look like meadow pipits but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will put us right!! :-D

What a great bird to get in your garden. Just shows how this severe weather has been forcing birds away from their normal habitat in search of food.

That has to be great sighting in your own garden. Makes me think what we are missing at home, here.
Thanks everyone for your replies. Guess I am lucky to still be getting one of these coming in to the garden.
They really are pretty little birds and, one of these, may be an Arsenal supporter! A meadow pipit was photographed on their pitch during a recent home game and we were asked to identify it. They regularly appear with pied wagtails and a couple of these were also in the shot. They seemed perfectly at home too in what was probably a very crowded and noisy stadium. I think that the match photographer is probably a bit of a birdwatcher but there was much interest all round in their unusual visitor.
Watch out for swifts
Hi gingerowl and welcome. What a fabulous visitor to have in your garden. Well spotted!
ValO - maybe they are Arsene Wenger's secret army!!!!!!! (I shall refrain from further comment as my OH is an - sorry - the Arsenal supporter.) LOL
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
