Hi All,
I must apologise in advance as the photos aren't great and are from very similar angles but I'm hoping you may be able to help me nonetheless. I took these photos in Burnham Beeches woods this morning and after thumbing through the bird guide, I was thinking that it looks most like a chiffchaff, any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Hi Monkey Mafia i would say its definitely not a chiffchaff,
if you look at the beak its more of a finch type beak similar to greenfinch/sparrow.
but cant really tell what it is to be honest maybe somebody else will have more of an idea.

Hi,
I agree with nisus- it's a finch type- :)
I am thinking maybe
female greenfinch - but the tail fork isnt very deep and the bill seems too small
female chaffinch - but it looks vaguely green tinged underneath
female house sparrow- but the head pattern doesnt look great
May have to let this stew awhile:))

Hi.This is a bit of a toughie for me. I'm tempted to say a female greenfinch but the beak seems a bit small. I honestly couldn't answer with any real conviction at the moment but for some reason I seem to be swaying towards female greenfinch. I think I'll have to mull this one over for a while.Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
I think it's a female greenfinch also.
