found eating leaves on an ivy in conservatory, length about 35mm.
I'd say it was a moth caterpillar looking at the style with a very hard stomach eating ivy :-P

This is the response I got from my moth expert friend.
"Hi Tony I'm not much good at caterpillars. It is a noctuid, but there are loads to choose from, many of which could fit this! Cheers Chris"

This is a privet hawk-moth, i have seen many of these on our ivy.
