Hi,took this in the New Forest today and have no idea if its male or female.

According to Collins Bird Guide the sexes are similar but the male has more intense red-brown colour on flanks near leg. I guess you'd have to see both at the same time to tell the difference.

it's quite pale on the flanks assuming it's not the photo. Probably a female.

Yeah, its a female for me.
Just checked my photos, I know I have 2 Nuthatches visit my feeders and have these 2 photos that look like a male and female.
Definetly looks like a male and female.

Ah but I took it today the 29th Feb so could still be either even if it did get down on one knee lol
