Have just responded to a couple of threads regarding bird identification and thought it may be good fun to crop some bird pictures and challenge other to identify them.
Please feel free to join in and add your own pictures.
Here are a couple to get the ball rolling, I think these provide a challenge:-
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag" Mary Poppins
Just posted my thoughts on the first one in the the other thread!
1) Female eider
2) Smew ?
"All weeds are flowers, once you get to know them" (Eeyore)

Well done MarJus, correct on both, here's another one to try (I think this one should be fairly staight forward) then I'm going to have to try and be a bit more clever to catch you out:-)
No-one else going to have a go then? I think I know what it is! :-)
Haven't a clue I'm afraid. Go for it MarJus!
There is something new to learn everyday...

I think it's a (not so) common crane!

Well done again Marjus, Common Crane is correct.
Have a small confession to make, would like to say I took this picture of a Crane in the wild, but although I have seen them in the Norfolk Broads and have even been lucky enough to have them fly over the garden, this picture was actually taken at Pensthorpe (Home of BBC Spring Watch), there is a breeding programme at Pensthorpe and as it is only a few miles down the road is a great place to get up closeand practice your photography.
Anyway, these have obviously been too easy so I think it is time to raise the bar a little and see if this one is a bit more challenging:-
Hi there! This is an interesting thread. Kittiwake I think. I will look into cropping some for fun.
John
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
??
greenfinch?
Yes! Doh... Too easy.
I will find a harder one somewhere!
