Hi, I've looked through all the birds featured on the website, but I can't find one that matches. I struggled to get a good photo, but hopefully someone can identify? Thank you in advance
It looks to me like a blackbird with partial leucism, a condition which can give birds white patches on their feathers - it does make identifying affected birds more difficult!
Thanks Adam. Can that affect the beak too as it wasn't yellow and seemed quite long?
On a previous occasion it was suggested this might be because it's a Scandinavian blackbird; in the winter our resident blackbirds are joined by migrants from Scandinavia that often have darker features (see BTO blog)
It's likely to be a first year male blackbird, their beaks can stay dark until next spring
Thanks Adam / Ella
