Need help IDing this bird call - not like anything I heard before

Recently was in the Romford area, and I've never heard a bird call so loud and distinctive. It's a three tone call (Doe-Ray-Doe) The audio I captured wasn't very clear since I was in a built-up area. I think it sounds exactly like the first second of the song Home by Edward and the Magnetic Zeros, and this bird had that song stuck in my head all day. Please help! TIA

  • Not easy to hear even with the volume turned right up. Is it a bird though? What time of day did you hear it? Could it be a contact call of a fox like this.

  • It could be! The only reason I thought I may not be, is that call happens during the day as well as at night

  • If you are hearing it during the day then we may have to think again. Not sure what it could be.

  • Hi Holly Blue. It's the call of a dog fox. (I can hear the resemblance to the opening notes of that track but believe the similarity is more in the tone than in the pitch. But I do love the use of songs to describe bird calls!)
