Spotted this at Frampton Marshes last week. Possibly have narrowed it down to a Lesser Yellowlegs as they had one sighted in previous days. Welcome help confirming. thanks
Sorry no one replied yesterday.
Looks like a wood sandpiper to me. Was the lesser yellowlegs sighting in previous days confirmed as being correct or just someone noting it in a logbook?
Thanks for the reply, the Lesser Yellowlegs was noted on the Frampton sighting board for a few days at the end of July and
Thanks. Do you have any other photos of that individual?
I've gone through sightings reports for Frampton. According to screenshots posted, lesser yellowlegs was last seen on 28th (though appeared in list for 29th July). It was seen in a different area to that shown in your photo. I can see wood sandpiper sightings in recent weeks for Frampton, incl similar days (e.g. 27th July) in areas where there is more water, similar to your photo.
I have not seen a lesser yellowlegs in UK in July so I will always be starting from the more likely.....i.e. why is your bird not a wood sandpiper? Happy to know your thoughts, or sourdocks.
