Spotted yesterday evening in Brittany, France. Cannot identify from bird books or Google. Any ideas please?
Is it a crossbill?
For what it's worth Google Lens comes up with some sort of canary. No guarantees that is correct though. If it is a canary, then it's likely that it's an escape.

I saw that too TJ but a blow up of pic definitely shows a crossed bill ... natural or deformity?
Edit ... apparently Red Crossbills can also be yellow

Obsidentify has also offered up 'Atlantic Canary' - which is the wild canary found in the Canaries, Azores and Madeira but I honestly don't know

I believe that the Atlantic Canary is the species that breeders have used to evolve into the bright yellow (and other colours) domestic canary with which we are all familiar. I don't know whether breeders keep Atlantic Canaries in captivity but this bird does look pretty similar to the wild Atlantic Canary.
It's a domestic canary. Likely an escapee.
