Hi everyone,
hope you can help with this one. just found this baby bird in the garden, does anyone know what it is and if it is too young to have left the nest? it’s hopping about but not much else and constantly chirping. keeping an eye out for parent but no luck yet.
any advice or info greatly appreciated.
thanks
Also it is torrential rain and it is sitting in the open. Is this normal behaviour? Mother has been down to it twice over the last few hours but that was it. ️
As the parent is still tending to it, if infrequently, best course of action is to leave nature to it's course, and don't be tempted to move it, or the parent may not be able to find it again
Thanks I always feel they are best left with their parents and hope they make it. He took himself off to a sheltered corner of the garden out of the rain a little at dusk earlier tonight. Looked ok like he was sleeping. But I noticed his breathing was laboured. just been back out to check if ok and he is laid flat on the ground just opening his mouth every now and again. sadly think this is the end for him. Very very upset for him. can they take a turn this quickly? As he was full of life this afternoon. Very sad it’s been such a quick decline. Could he be ill?
