I was driving from north Devon to London and on the way saw a bird that had an extremely prominent kite tail but very pointed wings.
Also I was in popham, near its airfield
I'm not sure what it is you are asking. Red Kites are very widespread these days and the forked tail is a very good identifying feature. The wings can look quite pointed dependent on how they are flying and the way they are using their primary feathers. Here's a typical photo.
