I was at my local park in Surrey when I chanced upon two redpolls. One is clearly a lesser redpoll, as shown in this photo. It has buff/beige colouring overall:
However, it was associating with a second bird, and I'm not entirely sure about this one. Of course, the immediate redpoll assumption in my area is lesser, and very few common (mealy) redpolls are seen in the county. I just wanted others' opinion on it. It seems to have a whiter belly (I sadly only have photos from this angle) and less beige, particularly on the head.
I wonder if anyone who has more knowledge than me could help me with the ID?
