My little girl found this and would love to know what bird it came from. Can anyone help please.
Some more information could help please. Where did you find it, town, countryside, near water, forest, farmland, thanks
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
We found it near our house which is on the edge of a town, we are not far from a river and farmland in Lincolnshire
I would say probably a Ring-Necked Pheasant - but I'm no expert, best wait till someone more knowledgable gives an answer
Regards
Benji
Thanks will look that one up
Well it looks an awful lot like some of these

Which are from snipe.
I'm no expert either and I've only just come across featherbase, which I will definitely be bookmarking:
https://www.featherbase.info/uk/country/GB so I looked through about 10 suspects until I found the picture above. I haven't checked that it isn't jack snipe, woodcock of anything else - I leave that as an exercise for the OP.
What a wonderful find! I also think it is likely a snipe, the usual suspect of pheasant doesn't really match this feather. The featherbase page for snipe has examples that look very similar to your one.
It really is a lovely feather :)
Thanks definitely looks like it!
