What kind of bird?

Hi Mike , welcome to the community, am not an expert am afraid just a bird lover..can I ask where the photo was taken as its certainly not a bird I have come across in the UK

After some research..a Belted Kingfisher is best match

I took it in Syracuse Indiana

I thought it might but it was larger than others I have seen before.
