First Sighting of Redwing this Autumn

Go up into Northern Scotland and they’re a small number of Redwings and also a few Fieldfare breed/nest in that part of the UK Redwing have on average around 13 pairs nesting and Fieldfares have always been in single numbers as far as number of pairs nesting.

Thanks for that Ian but doesn't quite help with ID of the birds in the crap photos which was the original question ;-)

There are quite large flocks being seen up here Linda. So it's very likely they're moving south. They don't look like Starlings in flight so I'm going for Redwing.

Only on phone at the min but look more Redwing to me. Big flocks of Redwing (700 +) have been reported coming in over the past week or so in Northumberland, haven’t seen any reports of Fieldfare yet.
