Identify this Marsh sandpiper?

Marsh sandpiper?

Saw this bird at Newtown salt marsh, Isle of Wight. Am I right with my identification?

Is it not a Greenshank?

I had not heard of Marsh Sandpiper so looked it up and it would be way off course to be one .

Hopefully one of the experts will be along soon

I think you're probably right. As you say, pretty unlikely location-wise.
I just felt that it was small and delicate but probably not small enough.
Lovely bird, anyway.

That looks like a Common Greenshank to me. Note the stout slighly upturned bill. Marsh Sandpiper which is a smaller bird has a needle sharp bill which is generally straight.

but Newtown would be an OK site for Marsh Sand- I've birded it a fair few times myself :
