Hi I'm in Cornwall and wonder if you can help with this bird in my garden? I've only seen a couple of times black/dark brown body with a lighter brown head. Moves like a woodpecker, fatter body and larger than blackbird. Sorry for the grainy pics

Hi Ray,

You probably will find this hard to believe but it is a Starling - its a juvenile changing into adult plumage and for some reason the body changes before the head leading to these slightly odd looking birds and because of this manner of changing it tricks our eye to it's size
