I saw this bird on a tern raft and thought it was a tern chick, but after looking at it at home it looked like a Common Sandpiper. There was also a Common Sandpiper sighting at this location the week before. I just wanted to check because this is a new species I have been trying to see for ages!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
