Hi all,
My sister's on holiday and sent me a couple of pics of a bird outside her cottage that was friendly and hanging around for scraps. She said it was:
More yellow than the pic shows
Very small, almost as small as a wren
At first I thought robin, but the size and length of tail to body put me off. Then I thought young yellowhammer, but looking at the pics the beak is pointed, the legs are the wrong colour and the speckles are random with no cheek pattern.
These characteristics and the bar on the wings made me think juvenile robin again, but all the young robins I've seen are almost the size of the adults and still getting fed by them. I suppose they have to be smaller at some point though!
We would very much love your help here!
Thanks,
Math and Vicki
