I am rather new to this so apologies if its a silly question.
This afternoon I was walking at Titchfield Haven on the south coast. It was a lovely cold afternoon with the tide out and there were lots of Oystercatchers foraging around the low tide line. I noticed one solitary bird foraging along the high tide line. It had all the markings of an Oystercatcher: black and white body, white winter collar, white shoulder patch, white belly, orange bill with a black tip. The thing that confused me was its bill was very long and down curved like a Curlew. Do Oystercatchers occasionally have bill anomalies like this, or is it a different bird altogether?
