Sorry no pics. I'm in southern turkey and spotted a small bird, similar size and plumage to a female house sparrow, with a crest on it's head. Any idea what it may be?
I also saw what I thought was a jay, but there were many of them in a small area. I thought jays were relatively solitary birds? Are these jays different from UK jays?

Hi- I'm baffled about including a Crested Lark photo- Crested Lark ( 37-55 gms) is considerably larger percentage -wise than a
House Sparrow ( 24-39 gms ) in bulk , leg length , wingspan and weight . Assuming the original observer got the sizeroughly correct Lesser Short toed Lark might conceivably fit except for the crest I don't think there is enough for a definite ID S
